The Lakeville North Girls Basketball team defeated Andover on Tuesday afternoon to advance to the State semi-finals. They will play the number two seed, Elk River, on Thursday night at 8:00.

The Panthers were led by their senior guard, Temi Carda, who had 19 points and 7 rebounds. She shot 72% from the field and 75% from behind the three point arc. However, Carda was not alone, as fellow senior Caitlyn Peterson picked up 9 points with 10 rebounds.

North came into the game as the number 3 seed in the state with a record of 28-2 and showed their superiority over the lower seeded Huskies. The girls will face a tougher challenge on Thursday night when they play the unbeaten Elks and the Metro player of the year, Gabi Haack.

The Panthers play again at Williams Arena at 8 o’clock looking to punch their ticket to the State championship, but face a tough task in containing Haack and an Elk River team that saw three different players reach double figures in their win against White Bear Lake. North will need to have another good defensive game if they want to advance.
