You may have noticed that the members of the North Football team are all wearing the same tie and dressed up in nice clothes. This is for something called the Greater Game.

Former Viking center and NFL director of football development Matt Birk and the NFL have partnered with various high schools across the state to create a character building program for high school football players. The players also downloaded an app called TheGreaterGame that offers daily motivation for the players.

Junior kicker Dylan Smith welcomed the chance to dress nicely for this cause.

“It shows character,” said Smith.

Not every school was chosen, but Lakeville North was lucky enough to be selected.

“It’s awesome that they chose our school,” said Smith.

Not only do the ties and apparel of the football team build character for the players, but it gives the school a good appearance.

“It just looks classy,” said dean Cheryl Meger on how it affects the school’s image.

Not only does it look classy, but Jon Gruden will be wearing the same tie on Monday night when he broadcasts the Vikings vs Giants.
